Annual Apprentice of the Year Awards 2009
Sam Allardyce, Blackburn Rovers Manager, was guest presenter at WEC Group’s Annual Apprentice of the Year Awards, held at Rosins Country Hotel on Thursday 27th August.
Prestigious guests included the Deputy Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, council representatives, proud family members, education and industry representatives who were all in attendance to support the apprentices. Guest speaker for the evening was Chris Eady, Associate Director of The Welding Institute.
With various special achievement awards including Commitment, Welding Excellence and WEC 500 Coded Welding, the evening culminated in the Apprentice of the Year. Congratulations go to Carl Hill, winner of the 2009 award, with Philip Brookes in 2nd place and David Ashworth in 3rd place. All students were recognised for their achievements, each receiving an award, certificate and welding helmet.
“We're extremely proud of all our students. The event was hosted to celebrate the success of our Training Academy Apprentices who have spent the past year developing their welding and engineering skills,” explains Steve Hartley, Managing Director of WEC Group, Darwen.
