APPRENTICES SCORE ON THE NIGHT

Andre Oojier, Blackburn Rovers Defender and Dutch International, presented our Training Academy Apprentices with their awards last night at WEC Group's first Annual Apprentice of the Year Awards.

Amongst our prestigious guests was the Right Honourable Janet Anderson MP, Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, Graham Burgess Chief Executive of BWDBC and local council, education and industry representatives. Cllr Tony Melia was our guest speaker for the evening, with Steve Hartley and Kris Mercer providing the background to our Apprentice scheme.

Congratulations go to Matthew Cooke, winner of the Apprentice of the Year 2008, with Daniel Hutchinson in 2nd place and Joshua Finley in 3rd place. All students were recognised for their achievements, each presented with a plaque, certificate and welding screen. Our 1st, 2nd and 3rd place holders also received a flight in a helicopter, with Matthew additionally receiving a £250 cheque and a welding screen worth £160.

The evening was a huge success, raising the profile of both WEC and Rosins to influential people within our local community. Congratulations, again, to all our apprentices, and we look forward to welcoming our new students in September.
