Life as a WEC Group Apprentice

Earn While You Learn and Gain Skills for Life
Our pledge as an employer is to inspire our apprentices to become the best that they can be in order to build a successful future for themselves.
Our Engineering Academy was created with a clear vision, that WEC Group could nuture and develop the skills of local individuals, who would then go on to have long and successful careers within the company. Since opening, the academy has welcomed over 200 apprentices in advanced disciplines including welding and fabrication, mechanical engineering and CNC Machining.
Take a look at what some of our current and former apprentices have to say about their experience of being a WEC Apprentice.
I chose my apprenticeship at WEC Group as I saw the wide range of apprenticeships they offer and thought it would be excellent for my future.
I am currently working on a variation of projects and quotations that gradually increase in difficulty along with my skill level.
I would highly recommend WEC Group to any young individual, they have guided me in the right direction to become a fully qualified sales estimator in the future.
I really enjoy the physical aspect of my apprenticeship and getting the opportunity to work on big and exciting projects. It's great to see my skills improve since I joined WEC Group.
Our instructors are very easy to get along with and explain things thoroughly, making sure you have a great understanding of the task.
I chose to work at WEC Group as they offer an amazing apprenticeship programme and have a variation of jobs available. I really enjoy the variety of jobs I get to work on, as they push and challenge you. At the moment I have been welding and fabricating some large ovens for a local company.
I would recommend WEC to any individual who is looking for a career in engineering. Personally, I think that WEC is the best place to start your career. The management team are brilliant and will do anything they can to help you.
Through my apprenticeship I have learnt to weld and fabricate to high standards. What I enjoy the most about working at WEC is that I get to work on decent jobs and we have a good laugh with the lads.
One of the main benefits is that you get lots of overtime and good bonuses on jobs.
I like the practical side of my apprenticeship as I am always busy. My teachers are always there to help me improve my skills and knowledge.
I would recommend anyone who is looking to learn new skills and develop their talent to become a WEC Apprentice.
