CapabilitiesMTL's Messer is the largest laser cutting machine in the UK. Capable of cutting parts up to 20m long x 3.2m wide x 20mm thick, cutting both chamfers and weld preps of up to +/-50 degrees, it improves efficiency and productivity whilst reducing costs and lead times for customers. In addition, we have a robotic tube cutting machine with capability of cutting tubes up to 1000mm dia x 40mm wall thickness.
Our profile cutting machine is capable of profiling carbon steels to 10m x 4m and a thickness of 120mm. The machine is effective when used on tough metals including Hardox and Weldox, complementing the company's impressive array of CNC machining centres.
Following continuous investments, we have a wide range of CNC press braking equipment available including 2 Ursviken 640 tonne CNC press brakes, capable of pressing components up to 7.2m wide.
We also have 10 robotic welding cells and various automated welding systems and have invested heavily in modular Demmler jigging tables. Our fabrication and assembly service and our fabrication facilities offer welding to ISO EN 3834-2 and BS EN 15085-2 status, demonstrating our commitment to quality.
MTL specialise in contract manufacturing and is one of the few profiling companies in the UK to offer three different cutting methods under one roof; laser cutting, waterjet cutting and high-definition plasma cutting.
MaterialMTL Advanced hold a vast range of stock plate material in-house to meet customers' needs, whether it be for meeting a ballistic threat level specification to relining a bucket from Hardox plate. Our relationship with the major steel mills in both Europe and the USA allows us to respond quickly to our customers' requirements using some of the best materials on the market.
Plates are available for a wide range of categories in numerous specifications and grades and with plates readily available up to 12 metres long, 3.2m wide and 200mm thick. Materials include armour plate, hardox wear plate, high strength steel, carbon steel, aluminium and offshore grade steel.
