WEC Group is committed to achieving environmental best practice throughout its business activities.
Sustainability
We understand that economic growth and environmental health must go hand in hand, and that safeguarding the environment and promoting sustainable development are shared responsibilities involving businesses, individuals, and communities alike. At WEC Group, we take our role seriously, and our commitment to environmental responsibility is rooted in continuous improvement, aligned with the latest knowledge and full regulatory compliance.
We conduct internal environmental reviews to assess the company’s environmental performance, ensuring that WEC Group is meeting both its policy objectives and legal compliance requirements.WEC Group operates from several purpose-built facilities, allowing us to manage entire projects in-house, from initial consultation to machining, fabrication, installation, and inspection of the finished product. This approach gives WEC complete control over environmental, pollution, and nuisance factors affecting our products.
When buying new machinery, WEC always considers how the equipment will affect the environment and chooses those with low noise emissions, the most energy efficient and also those with the best filtration units available.
WEC has replaced all our lasers with new fibre laser machines, cutting the amp usage from 200amps per machine to 30amps per machine. All machines requiring LEV, including welding bays, have the correct ventilation equipment in place with ongoing check sheets and maintenance programmes for operators. LEV units are regularly tested and inspected by a competent person.
The Group has its own vehicle fleet which has full control over using the quickest route available to reduce hours. Over 50% of WEC vehicles have had their engines upgraded to Euro 6 engines, which are environmentally friendly.
WEC Group have invested in the latest solar panel technology, covering the entire roof of our MTL Advanced site in Rotherham and our HTA Group site in Coventry. This significant step not only showcases our commitment to environmental sustainability but also paves the way for a more energy-efficient future. WEC looks for suppliers who produce recycled products i.e. paper/packaging and wood pallets. When this is not practical, we buys products that can be recycled. All steel is placed in the correct skips ready for recycling. WEC Group has also planted trees within the grounds which are maintained by our own ground maintenance team.
We encourage all external providers and customers to prioritize environmental protection by reducing material waste, limiting the use of processed substances, and ensuring safe disposal practices. We encourage all external providers and customers to consider to avoid the use of toxic substances wherever possible, to promote the development of eco-friendly technologies, and adopt energy-saving and recycling solutions.
WEC Group is committed to supporting a carbon neutral sustainable manufacturing. Optimising processes that minimize negative environmental impacts.
