WEC Group ranked Highly Commended at National Apprenticeship Awards 2022

Lancashire based WEC Group have once again been recognised for their outstanding contribution to apprenticeships at the national Apprenticeship Awards in London on Wednesday 30th November. The Fabrication and Welding specialist Company received the Highly Commended Award in the British Army Large Employer of the year 2022 category after winning the award at the North West regional finals in October, beating many larger organisations from the region.

Welding and fabrication specialists WEC Group hosted their 12th annual Apprentice of the Year awards ceremony at WEC Engineering Academy in Blackburn, on Thursday 24th November. The event was held at the Group’s newly built training facility on Walker Park, with apprentices, relatives, colleagues and esteemed guests attending the awards ceremony including The Mayor and Mayoress of Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, Councillor Suleman Khonat and Mayoress Mrs Reyhana Khonat.

Darwen’s biggest employer - WEC Group – has become the latest gold patron for Youth Zone Darwen taking it ‘tantalisingly close’ to its £250K fundraising target. The company, established for more than 40 years, grew from a small welding and fabrication shop in a makeshift shed in Darwen into one of the largest contract manufacturing companies in Europe.
