WEC Group recently invested in a second Fibre Laser machine which has been commissioned at its state-of-the-art laser cutting factory in Darwen, Lancashire.
The 3m x 1.5m Fibre laser is a means of expanding the capabilities and services WEC Laser can offer, increasing the division's capacity and allowing the business to meet the requirements for larger, ongoing contracts.
WEC Group is continuously looking for ways to make the company greener, and the new laser machine uses up to 75% less energy than the existing laser cutting technology, making the company more energy efficient overall.
The production is fully automated with no operator intervention required, and the machine boasts automatic loading and unloading which reduces strain on machine operators, increasing productivity in general.
As part of the Group's ambitious expansion plans, WEC has also recently launched a brand new powder coating division, based at the Darwen headquarters, with another £500,000 investment in the latest technology.
Last month WEC Group also funded a partnership deal to acquire the business and certain assets of South Yorkshire-based metal manufacturing specialist MTL, together creating one of the largest laser cutting operations in the UK.
