WEC Group's Annual Apprentice of the Year Awards 2008
Andre Oojier, Blackburn Rovers Defender and Dutch International, presented our Training Academy Apprentices with their awards last night at WEC Group's first Annual Apprentice of the Year Awards.
Amongst our prestigious guests was the Right Honourable Janet Anderson MP, Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, Graham Burgess Chief Executive of BWDBC and local council, education and industry representatives. Cllr Tony Melia was our guest speaker for the evening, with Steve Hartley and Kris Mercer providing the background to our apprentice scheme.
Congratulations go to Matthew Cooke who won Apprentice of the Year 2008, with Daniel Hutchinson in second place and Joshua Finley in third. All students were recognised for their achievements, each presented with a plaque, certificate and welding helmet.
The evening was a huge success, raising the profile of both WEC Group and the Academy. Congratulations, again, go to all our apprentices.
