WEC Group Apprentice of the Year Awards 2021
WEC Group held their annual awards presentation before the festive shutdown period, celebrating their apprentices who have excelled throughout 2021.
Apprentices Liam Walmsley, Alex Jepson and Brandon Taylor who have just become time-served have received certification for completing their traditional 5-year apprenticeships at WEC Group. Liam completed the CNC Machining apprenticeship at Blackburn based division WEC Machining, Alex completed the Welding & Fabrication apprenticeship at our in-house Training Academy based in Darwen and Brandon completed an apprenticeship in Laser Operating at WEC Laser.
First Year Welding & Fabrication apprentice Corey Mitchell was crowned Apprentice of the Year 2021 after an exceptional year, where he showcased excellence in everything he did. He also achieved the Highly Commended title at the WorldSkillsUK competition's national final in November.
Special awards and congratulations were also given to fourth year apprentice Jonathon Walton for receiving the Highly Commended award in the competition and third year apprentice James Mason, who won the silver medal for the Construction Metalwork category during the virtual ceremony.
We are exceptionally proud of the accomplishments of all of our apprentices throughout 2021 and we would like to thank everyone who continues to make our award-winning training academy a lasting success!
