The company has been launched as a way of furthering our ambitions of becoming a true one-stop-shop and is a welcome addition to our already extensive list of engineering services including fabrication, laser & waterjet cutting, CNC machining and sheet metalwork.

WEC Recognised as Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer

The team here at WEC Group is celebrating after being recognised in the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list. It was announced at the National Apprenticeship Awards which took place during The Skills Show in Birmingham on 13th November. WEC Group was also shortlisted for "Large Employer of the Year".

WEC Group Launch Employee Benefit Loans

WEC Group and the Jubilee Tower Credit Union have partnered up to create a brand new Employee Benefit Loan scheme (EBL) that is the first of its kind in the UK. The partnership gives employees an alternative way to borrow money, and the chance to switch current high interest loans and cut debt.

Apprenticeship Awards: Large Employer of the Year

WEC Group Training Academy has won a major honour in the prestigious National Apprenticeship Awards 2014. The academy, which offers five year apprenticeships in engineering, fabrication and welding to local youngsters has been chosen as the winner of The BAE Systems Award for Large Employer of the Year in the Liverpool, Cumbria and Lancashire region finals.

WEC Group's Training Academy Shortlisted for Top Award

WEC Group Training Academy, the only one of its type in the UK, has been shortlisted in the National Apprenticeship Awards 2014. Winners at the regional finals in Liverpool on September 11 will go through to compete nationally, and WEC's academy is up against firms such as Rolls Royce and ITV in the BAE Systems.

ITV Logo Ignited with New Interactive Sculpture

WEC Group has fabricated a stainless steel outdoor seating installation for ITV's new Media City home in Salford, which allows staff and the public to interact with a logo sitting on the top of the ITV building. The 16m long stainless steel 'ribbon' was inspired by the curved form of ITV's new logo, twisting and turning to create different seating spaces.

WEC's Iconic Swirl Sculpture has Real-A-Peel

The dramatic sculpture, called 'The Swirl', was created by the company's m-tec division which specialises in architectural metalwork fabrication and is the latest in a series of high-profile projects it has been commissioned to create across the world. Designed by architect Maria Rosa Kramer, the £85,000 sculpture is now turning the heads of locals and visitors to Didcot.

New Ornate Fence for Derwent Hall Charity

OVER-50s using the day care at a Darwen charity will be able to sit outside and enjoy the sun in safety after an ornate new fence was installed. Bosses at Derwent Hall in George Street have had the fencing made and erected to protect users of the charity's facility close to Darwen town centre.

WEC Group's Fabrication Expertise Spans the Globe

The dramatic five-metre diameter globe was created by the company's m-tec division which specialises in architectural metalwork fabrication and is the latest in a series of high-profile projects it has been commissioned to create. It now stands on a prominent roundabout in the Nigerian city of Uyo.

m-tec's Trinity Mirror Sculpture

A huge well done to m-tec and all involved in the fabrication of the new 'Trinity Mirror' Sculpture based in Irvine, Scotland. The 9 metre mirror polished stainless steel sculpture stands proud in the newly redeveloped main shopping area of Irvine town centre, and is a focal point to the regeneration of the town.

AFC Darwen New Chairman

AFC DARWEN football club has appointed WEC Group Commercial Director Wayne Wild as chairman. Mr Wild, group director of metal fabrication firm WEC, was invited to take up the role by club owner and manager Kenny Langford. It is another boost for the club which last year announced the Junction Street firm had agreed a lucrative sponsorship deal with the club.

New Waterjet Cutting Machine

After a very successful launch in August last year, our new waterjet cutting division has gone from strength to strength and we have recently commisionned our second waterjet cutting machine to accomodate increasing demand. With a bed size of 4m x 2m and the capability to cut ANY material up to 200mm thickness.
