Combustion Exhaust Lined Duct Fabrication
Our WEC Fabrication division has successfully completed the manufacture of large Combustion Exhaust Lined Ducts. The project demonstrates our capability in delivering complex, large scale steel fabrications for demanding engineering environments.
The fabrication comprised 12 individual sections, assembled to form a 25 metre overall duct with a diameter of 4.62 metres. Constructed using a carbon steel outer shell with a perforated stainless steel inner liner, the assembly was designed to meet stringent performance and durability requirements for high temperature combustion exhaust systems.
Manufacturing was carried out by our skilled team at WEC Fabrication using advanced in-house equipment and coded welding expertise. Over a 16 week programme, each section was precision fabricated, inspected, and prepared for assembly to ensure full compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

Quality assurance was maintained throughout the project, with rigorous inspection at every stage of fabrication. Dimensional checks, welding inspections and non destructive testing were completed to ensure integrity and compliance with relevant standards. Careful planning was required due to the scale of the duct sections, with controlled handling and lifting operations used to move and assemble components safely within the workshop environment. Protective finishing and surface preparation were also applied to ensure long term durability of the carbon steel outer structure, while maintaining the performance of the stainless steel perforated liner within the duct assembly.
