MTL Apprentices' Butterfly Campaign Takes Flight at Wentworth Woodhouse
Last weekend marked a proud milestone for MTL Advanced and WEC Group as the stunning Corten steel butterflies created by our apprentices were officially installed at Wentworth Woodhouse as part of the Rotherham Hospice Butterfly Appeal.
The launch event was a fantastic success, with visitors welcomed to the beautiful Meadow of Memories, where thousands of handcrafted steel butterflies now form a striking tribute to loved ones while raising vital funds for Rotherham Hospice. The installation will remain open to visitors throughout July, providing families with a peaceful place to reflect, remember and celebrate those they have lost. The campaign aims to raise £100,000 to support the hospice's invaluable care for patients and their families.
Over the past few months, MTL Advanced apprentices have dedicated countless hours to laser cutting, folding and welding the Corten steel butterflies, developing their engineering skills while contributing to a project with genuine meaning for the local community. In total, around 2,000 butterflies have been handcrafted for the installation, each representing a personal dedication and lasting memory.
Seeing the finished display come together at Wentworth Woodhouse was a proud moment for everyone involved.
We're incredibly proud to support such a meaningful initiative. It's been fantastic to watch our apprentices make the butterflies over the past few months and finally see them installed at Wentworth Woodhouse. The display looks incredible, and it's a testament to the hard work, skill and dedication shown by everyone involved throughout the project.
Projects like this demonstrate how engineering can make a real difference beyond the workplace, giving apprentices the opportunity to apply their technical skills while supporting an important local cause.
